A reminder – June 1 is Easton’s First Friday Gallery Walk , and if you’re in town for the festivities, don’t miss the photographic show at the Talbot County Visual Arts Center, entitled “Working on the Eastern Shore, a Photographic Study.” The show features work from contemporary as well as early 20th century photographers, including that of A. Aubrey Bodine.
Just in case you have not yet had your fill of those fresh, luscious red berries, you can celebrate all things strawberry on Saturday at St. Luke’s United Methodist’s 23rd Annual Strawberry Festival and Craft Show. Crafts, strawberries – what’s not to like ? PS a local farmer informed me that raspberries should be ready shortly, with blueberries not far behind. Everything is early this year.
One of the foremost banjo players in the world, Bela Fleck, will appear that evening at the Avalon with the virtuoso jazz band, Marcus Roberts Trio. The genre-bending Fleck has collaborated with everyone from bassists Edgar Meyer and Stanley Clarke, pianist Chick Corea, violinist Jean-LucPonty, Sting, Dave Matthews, the Alabama Symphony, the Nashville Symphony, and even recorded two albums with various African musicians. And not to be forgotten, Marcus Roberts: ” We call him the ‘genius of modern piano,’ because he is,” Wynton Marsalis. Enough said.
