Mr. Steve Dembo will address the Tidewater Camera Club on Monday, October 5, 2015 from 7 to 9 PM in the Talbot County Community Center’s Wye Oak Room. His presentation is entitled, “From the Sidewalk”. He will discuss the many possibilities and diverse aspects of ‘Street’ photography which can encompass not only people, but also architecture, humor, industrial development and decay, business scenes, night scenes, city lights, cityscapes, abstract point of view, objects and art, etc.. Mr. Dembo will also display his own photographic documentation of the streets within the large cities that he has visited and discuss the revelations he has received through the medium of photography. The Public is welcome to attend.
Steve Dembo is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and currently serves as an adjunct faculty member at the Community College of Baltimore County. He has also been a mentor, presenter and lecturer at the Baltimore Camera Club. He loves to teach and has been able to meaningfully convey his passion for every aspect of photography. He has received laudatory evaluations and reviews from students and attendees at his presentations and has been very successful in motivating and inspiring others to pursue and achieve their own photographic objectives and results. As a teacher of the art, technique and method of photography, he advocates “doing it differently”, challenging the photographer/student to get the story across like no one else has done.
Steve often works in black and white or monochrome processes, emphasizing shapes, patterns and depth to engender emotion and mood. In his color work, as well, he strives to elicit impressions and feelings. He recently won a coveted Excellence Award in COLOR Magazine’s Portfolio competition and has been recognized by National Geographic. He has won numerous competitive awards and accolades.
