Robert Pierce is a graduate of the Motion Picture Department at U.C.L.A. whose film career spanned five decades and some two hundred fifty titles. Bob has worked as producer, director, cinematographer, editor, writer and narrator. His documentaries and biographies cover a myriad of subjects including the Arts, the Environment, American History, Science and Religion. He has chronicled the lives of people in all walks of life. His films and videos have won dozens of national and international awards. We are fortunate that he retired to Easton in 2006 and has made many of his films available for us to see.
On Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 12 noon, you are invited to view two of Bob’s favorite documentaries. Picasso: The Saltimbanques is one of Picasso’s most successful and largest canvasses, the story of which turned into a real life detective study when National Gallery Curator, E.A. Carmean, Jr. discovered multiple other works by the artist beneath the surface. The documentary was shown internationally and received several awards. From Reliable Sources is the story of the Archives of American Art, a Smithsonian facility which is the largest repository of art related materials, and is used extensively by scholars throughout the art world.
Feel free to bring your lunch. Coffee and sweets will be provided by the Friends of the Talbot County Free Library. The program is free and reservations are not required. Don’t miss this great opportunity to see excellent documentary films.
