Talbot Soroptimist Host Third Annual Jigsaw Puzzle Competition

Are you a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast? Join Soroptimist International of Talbot County on Saturday, February 7 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM for the Third Annual Jigsaw Puzzle Competition. The event will be held at the Talbot Senior Center, 400 Brookletts Avenue in Easton. Walk-in registrations on Saturday morning are welcome prior to 9:45 AM or on our website anytime.

Teams of four members will compete to assemble the same 500-piece jigsaw puzzle the fastest. There are prizes for first, second and third place winners. The registration fee is $25 per person or $100 for a team of four. Lunch is included in the registration fee. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event support Soroptimist “Best for Women” projects locally.

Olivins to Give Live Demonstration at Soroptimist Girls’ Night Out

Bill Acosta, owner of Olivins in St. Michaels, along with Randy Schiera of Mike & Eric’s Front Street Restaurant & Bar, also in St. Michaels, will provide guests of the Soroptimist International of Talbot County Girls’ Night Out with a live demonstration and tastings of holiday recipes featuring products sold by Olivins. Items available for purchase in Olivins storefront, and also online, include aged and infused fine olive oils and vinegars along with coffees, teas, organic jams, honeys, maple syrup and chocolates. Olivins will also have a table display where participants may purchase items.

The event is scheduled for Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Milestone Reception Hall in Easton, doors open at 5:15 pm. The theme for this year’s event is “Merry Mistletoe”, setting the tone for an evening of holiday spirit, shopping and fellowship. To purchase a ticket, please call 410-200-4261.

Attendees are treated to a served dinner, may bid on over 50 silent auction items and will have the opportunity to create a take-home craft. Guests are asked to bring their Christmas lists and shop with the local artisan vendors in attendance. In addition to Olivins, Chesapeake Soaps, Classy Yarns, Heidi Wetzel Woven Sculptures & Baskets, Hilary Brum Pottery, Joan’s Gems, KMC Creations, Bella Villa Candles, Peach, Pecan Yummies, Traci Lynn Jewelry, Triple Creek Winery, Barbed Wire Jewelry, and Seaglass Jewelry by Lambert will have displays. The infamous 50/50 bead raffle completes the evening’s lineup. Soroptimist International of Talbot County (SITC) is proud to host its ninth annual “Girls’ Night Out” scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Milestone Reception Hall in Easton. The theme for this year’s event is “Merry Mistletoe”, setting the tone for an evening of holiday spirit, shopping and fellowship. Each year the event fills the large ballroom with a sold out crowd of 160 women.

This year’s co-chairs, Melissa Kelly and Elizabeth Devlin and have planned a dazzling schedule for the women-only event that features a plated dinner, silent auction, cash bar, and take-home craft, which is new to the event this year. Attendees are asked to bring their Christmas lists and shop with the nearly 20 vendors from local retail establishments. The infamous 50/50 bead raffle completes the evening’s lineup. One hundred percent of the proceeds from Girls’ Night Out support SITC’s signature project—Partners In Care–and other “Best for Women” projects.
