The Bay Hundred Youth Coalition awarded over $10,000 to nonprofits serving Bay Hundred youth who participated in the 2016 Social Media Challenge. The check presentation was held on Friday, January 27 at the St. Michaels Library.
The Social Media Challenge offered $1 for every new Facebook “Page Like” the Nonprofits generated during the final two weeks of 2016, with additional prizes of $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for 3rd place winners.

The Imagination Library of Talbot County took first place with over 7,000 new page likes, receiving an award of $8,100. Phillips Wharf Environmental Center placed second with nearly 400 new page likes, and the St. Michaels Community Center placed third with 250 new page likes. A total of over $10,000 was awarded to 16 youth-focused nonprofits.
The awards presentation was followed by a panel discussion on social media including strategic communications consultant Jen Shatwell, Cristy Morrell and Francesca Wiseman of Imagination Library of Talbot County, and Elizabeth Gayton, BHYC volunteer webmaster.
Bay Hundred Youth Coalition (BHYC) provides resources to nonprofits serving youth in the Bay Hundred area to raise awareness, promote collaboration and help more youth, parents, and donors connect with available resources. BHYC promotes information-sharing on social media, provides a Youth Resource Directory, holds quarterly inter-agency meetings to provide information and resources, and hosts events for the nonprofits and the youth they serve.
