Editor’s note: As Talbot County moves into the slow summer days of August, the Spy thought it would be a good time to catch up with the members of the Easton Town Council on the year so far. Over the next five weeks, we will be presenting these informal conversations where Council members talk about growth, development, annexation, and other quality of life issues that impact the city and the people they represent.
Al Silverstein has been a fixture in Talbot County’s life of commerce for almost sixteen years now. As president of the Talbot County Chamber of Commerce, he has been a consistent cheerleader and advocate for county businesses, large and small. More recently, he has made that one of his priorities during first year serving on the Easton Town Council. In his Spy interview, Al talks about annexation, the business conditions in downtown Easton, the need for economic development, and finding the right balance between growth and maintaining the town’s high quality of life. He also talks about dog parks, Confederate war memorials, and a description of Ward 1.
