Easton High School Career and Technology students presented program information and answered questions on January 22, 2015 at the Career and Technology Showcase and Information Night held at the Easton Branch of the Talbot County Free Library.
The event was the third of the Career and Technology public awareness campaign coordinated by the Maryland State Department of Education’s Divisions of Career and College Readiness, Library Development and Services, Talbot County Public Schools and the Talbot County Free Library.
Students presenting were: Von Kirchoff-Business Management, Jaelon Moaney-Pre-Engineering, Kendall Gant, Bryla Carlisle and Joe Ewing-Culinary Arts, Sarah Baynard-Agriculture Science and Amber Willis and Allie Ketterman -Biomedical Science.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Talbot County Free Library to highlight the importance of Career and Technology Education and to share with the community the wonderful opportunities these programs offer students,” stated Talbot County Public Schools Superintendent, Kelly Griffith.
Talbot County Public Schools offers 12 career and technology education programs of study at its two high schools – Easton High School and St. Michael’s Middle/High School. Programs are offered in the following career areas: Arts, Media and Communication, Business, Management and Finance; Construction and Development; Consumer Services, Hospitality, and Tourism; Environmental, Agriculture and Natural Resources; Health and Biosciences; Human Resource Services; Manufacturing, Engineering, and Technology; and Transportation Technologies.
Across the state, CTE programs provide opportunities for students to actively learn about careers and prepare for successful futures. More than half (58%) of graduates of the Class of 2013 earned a designation as a Career and Technology Education completer.
