A forum The Future is Now: Dealing with Rising Seas on Maryland’s Shores will be held February 21 from 9:30 to 3 at Chesapeake College’s Todd Center for the Performing Arts in Wye Mills. Fee: $35, students $15. Sponsored by Chesapeake College and the League of Women Voters of Maryland.
Speakers will be: Keynote address: Dr. Donald Boesch, President of the UMD Center for Environmental Science; Speakers and discussion leaders: Drew Koslow, recent Midshore Riverkeeper and founder of the SouthRiver Federation; Mark Konapelsky, Critical Area Commissioner for Somerset County; Zoe Johnson, Coastal Planner, Maryland DNR; Endnote speaker: Wayne Gilchrest, former Congressman, District1, Special Advisor to the Sassafras River Association.
The theme is how we can prepare, adapt and plan for encroaching waters on the shores on Maryland. There will be three 45-minute breakout discussion periods.
