George Merrill will hold a workshop entitled “The Art and the Fun of Writing the Personal Essay.” The event will be held at the Evergreen Center for Balanced Living in Easton on Saturday, May 3 from 9:00-11:30am. The workshop is co-sponsored by Evergreen and the Eastern Shore Writers Association.
The morning will include: A brief history of the essay; Accessing our creative imagination; The personal essay as a spiritual exploration; and Class interaction and exercises.
George is an award winning essayist, the author of The Bay of the Mother of God: A Yankee Discovers the Chesapeake Bay and co-author of “Reflections: Psychological and Spiritual Images of the Heart. His essays have appeared in local and national magazines and air twice monthly on Delmarva Public Radio. He serves as non-fiction editor of the Delmarva Review and has presented workshops at the Bay-to-Ocean Writing Conference held annually at Chesapeake College on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
