For All Seasons, Inc., the Mental Health and Rape Crisis Center of the Mid-Shore, has been selected as a beneficiary of the United Fund of Talbot County’s 2015-2016 campaign. In expressing her appreciation for the funding, For All Seasons, Inc. Executive Director Beth Anne Langrell said that the primary focus for the funding will be on providing bilingual mental health and psychiatric services to the community.
“We are seeing an increased demand for services for the bilingual community and we’re very excited that we were able to welcome Dr. Dimas Tirado-Morales, a bilingual Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to our staff this summer,” she said. “As the leading agency to provide bilingual mental health, psychiatric and rape crisis services to the Mid-Shore we will use our funding to strengthen the health of the community through individual and group sessions.
For All Seasons provides a full continuum of mental health treatment and psychiatric services to all residents of the Mid-Shore regardless of their ability to pay, currently serving 2089 men, women and children in the five Mid-Shore counties. The agency operates a 24-hour crisis hotline with emergency advocacy response in both English and Spanish to child and adult victims of sexual abuse and assault. During the past year, 1493 people in crisis called the hotlines, receiving compassionate, confidential support both day and night.
The agency’s Rape Crisis Center provides advocates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to respond immediately when a rape victim appears at Emergency Rooms across the Mid-Shore. Advocates remain with the victims as long as necessary, and make certain that they’re seen by a mental health clinician within 24 hours. Advocates accompany victims with law enforcement, go with them to court appointments, and follow up with case management or referrals for long term treatment when necessary.
Clinical Director Lesa Lee said “One of the unique aspects of For All Seasons is that our clinicians are trained in a variety of approaches to meet the demanding mental health needs of our community. We’re happy to see anyone off the street who might have a short term mental health need – brief counseling for anxiety, depression or trauma after divorce, loss or an accident. But we also have expertise in working with specific issues such as children who have attachment disorders, and people with severe and persistent mental illnesses.”
Langrell comments. “We have retained and recruited incredible mental health clinicians, psychiatrists, a registered nurse certified in psychiatry and mental health and a top-notch administrate team over the past year and half. Our agency has adopted the “teaching clinic” model with professional development and ethics leading our team to ensure that we are prepared to meet the growing mental health demands of our community.”
The United Fund grant helps For All Seasons serve everyone in Talbot County with a mental health or crisis need. For more information, to make a contribution or to volunteer at the agency, call For All Seasons at 410-822-1018 or visit online at www.forallseasonsinc.org.
