This week’s feature is a property listed for $895,000 at 27357 Avonbourne Ln. in the Travelers Rest neighborhood in Easton.
Travelers Rest is one of the first neighborhoods I discovered on my visits to my sister and her late husband before I moved here. My sister’s in-laws lived there and hosted many family gatherings at their waterfront property. I liked Travelers Rest’s proximity to both Easton and St. Michaels, the wooded settings of the houses, and the fact that the neighborhood had only one entry point off St. Michaels Rd. which made it very private.
This house takes advantage of its wooded setting and its vistas along the 200 feet of shoreline on the Tred Avon River. My favorite room was the family room with its pitched ceiling and skylights. The room feels very spacious due to the wide sliding door that opens a large portion of the rear wall to the screened porch and water views beyond and the side wall of windows up to the ceiling with a stone fireplace and low bookcases in between.
I liked how the kitchen window had a view to the water through the woods and how the wall of pantries replaced overhead cabinets which opened up the room. With the large screened porch, long deck and pool this would be a great place for relaxing and watching the abundant waterfowl and wildlife.
