Forget the Spring Equinox. Eastern Shore residents know the season has arrived when our boats go back in the water.
On March 30 at 2 p.m., all four of Inn at Perry Cabin by Belmond’s signature “Stars and Stripes” blue boats will sail into St. Michaels Harbour as a fleet and kick start what General Manager Reginald Archambault promises to be an activity-packed spring and summer.
Star Bright, Star Light, Harbor Star and Midnight Star spent the winter in Annapolis and will depart at approximately 10 a.m. with Captain Jason Pinter at the helm. They’ll cruise the beltline of the Chesapeake together, corner Bloody Point into the Eastern Bay and file down the Miles River for a stunning return home.
Star Bright is an Alerion Sport 38 that is uniquely equipped to accommodate a full weekend cruise. Her traditional topsides are couple with not only an advanced underbody but also an advanced rig. An Alerion Express 33, Star Light turns heads with her sheer, classic overhangs, thoroughly modern underwater shape and low coachroof. She pairs purity of line with unsurpassed performance.
Launched in 1991, Midnight Star is a Tadorne 26 and immediately aroused interest and admiration. Her hull and deck are made of polyester with a teak and varnished mahogany finish. These three yachts are the stars of the Inn’s sailing academy, which reopens April 8 and offers ASA 101 and ASA 103 certification courses for basic keelboat sailing and basic coastal cruising, respectively.
Harbor Star is an Andreyale 33 French Canal Commuter ideally suited for brisk, two-hour cruises and half- or full-day charters. Boasting a roomy cockpit and elegantly appointed salon with large beveled glass windows and satin mahogany finish, she reaches top speed at a whisper-quiet 18 knots.
Inn at Perry Cabin’s 2017 fleet also will include a new Friendship 40 named Stargazer and Five Star, a 55’ Hinckley yacht. They will arrive at port along the East Lawn of the Inn in April and May, respectively.
