Jazz on the Chesapeake, a program of Chesapeake Chamber Music, is sponsoring its annual fundraising event, Jazz in a Barn, in support of the annual Monty Alexander Jazz Festival. On Saturday, April 26, Jazz on the Chesapeake will entertain with a fun evening of jazz, wine and hors d’oeuvres in a local unique barn filled with stylish vintage automobiles.
Local residents, Gale and Henry Petronis, are hosting the event in their barn near Easton which features their collection of 40 vintage automobiles. The collection includes a 1931 Chrysler CL Custom Imperial Roadster owned by the late Lloyd Harriman. Shown in 1994 at the Michigan Region of the Grand Classic, the car scored 100 points and in 1997, against stiff competition, it placed second at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
In addition to vintage automobiles, the event will showcase The Lena Seikaly Trio. As the leader of her own trio, Lena has sold out performances at legendary DC institutions, such as Blues Alley. Lena is a fresh voice on the national jazz scene. A resident of Washington DC, she was named by The Washington Post as “one of Washington’s preeminent jazz singers and brightest voices in jazz.”
Sponsorship is available at the benefactor, patron and sponsor levels and includes such benefits as tickets to the Monty Alexander Jazz Festival. To purchase tickets for the fundraiser, call the CCM office at 410-819-0380.
