Maryland is poised to be one of the first states in the nation to utilize the untapped wealth of offshore wind, and you can help make it happen. This Wednesday, February 13, there will be a rally at the State House in Annapolis from 11am-12pm in support of Senate Bill 275, the Maryland Offshore Wind Energy Act of 2013.
Dirty energy sources like oil pose threats to our oceans through pollution, oil spills, and climate change. Offshore wind can harness a clean and infinite source of energy, while eliminating deadly drilling disasters and helping to create many more sustainable jobs than traditional fuel industries. And now we have a chance to bring this clean energy source to Maryland.
Oceana, as well as local and national partner groups (and perhaps even Gov. Martin O’Malley), will be on hand in support of this important legislation, which will put Maryland squarely at the center of the momentum for a clean energy future. Also, we will be passing out free Oceana Lawn Turbines to those who make it out!
