Local Port of Art in St. Michaels, MD will be exhibiting photographs by Tidewater Camera Club members beginning Saturday, October 31st through Monday November 23rd. The exhibit theme, “Spirit of the Eastern Shore”, will cover a variety of subjects, including Eastern Shore vistas, street photography, shore scenes, waterfowl, and many others reflecting the everyday beauty of life on the Eastern Shore.
The show will be professionally judged and awards will be given for the best artistic photographic work. Those with a discerning eye for art are invited to cast their votes for the “People’s Choice” award anytime between October 31st and November 7th.
Awards will be announced at the “Artists Reception,” to be held on November 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. All art aficionados are invited to come and celebrate with the artists at the reception.
Local Port of Art is a non-profit, cooperative art gallery in historic St. Michaels. This amazing two level gallery has spacious areas that include a workshop, meeting room, and studio/gallery rooms. Their goal is to provide local artists a proper venue to show work that includes jewelry, furniture, paintings, photography, ceramics, fiber arts, woodwork, mixed media, and sculpture. Local Port of Art is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
The Tidewater Camera Club is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1963 with a current membership of 85. The club meets on the first and third Monday of each month from September through May at the Talbot County Community Center in Easton. The Club’s membership is comprised of amateur and professional photographers throughout the mid-Shore region. The Club’s mission is to educate, promote and share the enjoyment of photography. The exhibit will be judged by David Harp, award winning photographer of the Chesapeake Bay and the Eastern Shore’s marshes and waterways. His photo and essay collaborations with writer Tom Horton have led to a series of acclaimed books, most recently The Nanticoke: Portrait of a Chesapeake River.” A new book with Horton about the Choptank River will appear in late December.
