On June 10, 2017, at 7:p.m. at the St. Michaels Middle/High School Auditorium, Marita’s Movers is sponsoring a benefit featuring Charles “Bo” Grant, to assist Marita and Al Hayward with the purchase of a Van that is wheel chair accessible. Marita Murray Hayward has spent most of her life in the Bay Hundred area. Her family has lived here for generations.
Marita graduated from Moton High School and traveled extensively. In the early 1980’s, she and Al returned to the Shore after he retired from the Air Force, settling in McDaniel where they built a home and became very active in the community. In the mid 1990’s Marita was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and Al subsequently had two heart attacks. These events were life altering and financially draining. Marita is now confined to her wheel chair and Al is her primary care giver. Over the past several years, Marita’s Movers, under Marita’s direction, raised over forty thousand dollars for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. This year we are raising money for Marita. A wheel chair accessible van would dramatically improve her quality of life.
If you have not seen Bo Grant you are in for a treat. He was fortunate enough to have been a part of the legendary Platters and traveled the work sharing the stage with such greats as the Drifters, Percy Sledge, and Nate King Cole. Tickets are twenty dollars in advance and twenty five dollars at the door. To purchase tickets in advance please call Deborah Murray at 829-0392 or Danielle Tapp at 829-1056.
