Seven years ago, Martha Hudson, one of the founding members of the “Traveling Brushes” established an annual award to recognize members of the St. Michaels Art League who excel in watercolor. This year, twenty-three artists participated by entering forty-two original watercolors, many of which are forsale.
The paintings are on display for the month of December at the St. Michaels Library.
Robert Manning, known for his rural and agricultural scenes of the Shore, judged the show. The winners for the 2014 show are: First Place, Louise Peardon for “Baskets Galore”; Second Place, Virginia Perram, “This Olde House”; and Third Place, Pat Hanlon for “Abundance”. Honorable mentions were Donna Grauel, “Mandeville Vine”, and Patsy Dautle, “Preening”.
