The Oxford Museum is now accepting nominations for the annual Douglas Hanks, Jr. Oxford Preservation Award. The award was established in 2006 to recognize extraordinary efforts by individuals or groups in preserving the unique history and heritage of Oxford and the surrounding area. With deep roots in Oxford, Doug Hanks, Jr. spent his life exploring Oxford’s history and preserving the town’s heritage and traditions. The publication in 1999 of his book, Oxford Treasures, Then and Now, was the result of a valued partnership and friendship between Hanks and the Museum. The Oxford Museum created this coveted award in honor of Hanks’ contribution to the community.
Qualifying activities for the award are: Restoration and Renovation Projects, Outstanding Service in Preservation, Stewardship and Lifetime Contributions.
Those interested in submitting a nomination should contact the Oxford Museum by calling (410-226-0191) and leaving a message. A nomination form will be forwarded.
