Barbara Jablin, watercolor instructor of the Chestnut Street Studio Painters of St. Michaels, challenged the group to paint images of vintage Victorian homes in the area. In San Francisco they are called “Painted Ladies,” as they are adorned in tri-colored painting schemes. So the group of watercolorists has identified many of these beauties in St. Michaels, Chestertown, and other places in the Delmarva. They have created paintings of the decorative façades with the intricate gingerbread Victorian trim, as well as details of front doors, benches, bay windows, mansard roofs, and turrets, typical of the Victoria era.

Please come to see if you know or own one of these houses. The show will be open at the St. Michaels Library Gallery for the month of November. Participating are: Pat Alberico, Patsy Dautle, Ann DeMart, Pat Hanlon, Joseph Lichaa, Jo Merrill, Dave Murphy, Nancy O’Brien, Peg Papa, Jan Perdue, Virginia Perram, Val Sunderland, and Beth Wright.
