The Collectors’ Preview Party (July 17th from 7-9pm) offers the first opportunity to see the entire competition art show and purchase the best of the best. It also offers the chance to be present as the awards are announced by 2015 Judge and magazine publisher, Christopher (Kip) Forbes. Enjoy the company of friends, wine, food and conversation with the participating artists. This is a high excitement event with brisk sales, as a painting is sold every 45 seconds over a 2 hour time frame. Tickets to this event sell out quickly and the $150 ticket price applies in full against the purchase of paintings at the i.g. Burton BMW Competition Gallery at the Academy Art Museum and the Library Exhibition and Sale at the Armory all weekend. Be one of the few to experience and to purchase the best of this year’s competition.
Plein Air Easton is as much a celebration of place as it is a world class arts event. If it is important to you to live in a vibrant arts community; if you value the Chesapeake Bay region’s extraordinary geography and culture and want to encourage others to do so as well, you should become a Friend of Plein Air Easton.
As a benefit of being a Friend of Plein Air Easton you will be invited to attend the Meet the Artists Dinner and Paint Out on Saturday, July 11th. Always highlighting a seldom seen and spectacular estate, this event has become a cornerstone of the summer calendar in Talbot County. For anyone who wants to be in the know, this event is the first opportunity to meet all of the 2015 Plein Air Easton juried artists and get the inside scoop on which artist to watch throughout the week.
This year the Meet the Artists Dinner will be held at Point Pleasant Farm, a rare landmark property near the mouth of Broad Creek. The scale of the farm is truly epic: over 8 miles of waterfront, 900 + acres of farm land and wilderness, an active grass fed cattle operation, miles of trails, and a superabundance of wildlife. Once owned as a hunting lodge for the DuPont family and later an Audubon property, the story of Point Pleasant Farm has been one of conservation for most of the 20th century. That spirit will continue into the future as owner Bob Pascal put the entire farm into development easements with the State, thus preserving it as it is for future generations.
Due to the size of this special place Friends are encouraged to arrive as early as 5 pm and explore the property by car. Maps will be provided. Competing artists could be anywhere on the property but will bring their work to the site of the party by 7pm when the official festivities begin. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this special place through the eyes of the nation’s top outdoor painters.
Join a community of arts enthusiasts at a truly remarkable celebration of the modern plein air painting movement.
