Renowned organist Tedde Gibson will perform at Holy Trinity Church in Oxford, MD on Friday October 28, 2016 at 7 p.m. This free concert is a unique opportunity to see one of the most innovative, improvisational organists and recording artists today. Gibson will play an eclectic concert of jazz, gospel, silent movie and traditional church music on the Vissler Roland Tracker pipe organ at Holy Trinity Church.
Tedde Gibson, a native of Tacoma, WA, began playing piano at four years of age and later studied organ with some of the world’s leading organists, including Edward Hansen, David Dahl, Melvin Butler, and Mickey Thomas Terry. Gibson has played on famous 20th century instruments at a variety of historical venues, including the four manual Wurlitzer in Gig Harbor, WA and the great Wanamaker organ in Macy’s Department Store in Philadelphia, PA.
He has produced three recordings: Tedde Gibson on the Hardman Wurlitzer and At Last There be Praise Volumes 1 and 2. He is currently the organist/musician-in-residence at the First Baptist Church of Highland Park in Landover, MD and the organist at Capitol Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church and Holy Comforter St. Cyprian Roman Catholic Church, both in DC.
Holy Trinity Church offers the ideal venue to hear a master of organ music liberate the most creative and innovative sounds on the church’s extraordinary Tracker Organ. Guest can bring their musical requests and may receive a Gibson Improvisation creation in exchange.
This concert is organized and promoted by Holy Trinity Church. A collection for local charities of Holy Trinity Church will be taken after the performance. Seating is limited in the church, but a state-of-the-art AV transmission will be provided to the church’s Parish Hall for overflow seating. Participants should plan to arrive early.
