On Friday, June 3 from 7pm to 10pm, parts of S. Morris Street in Oxford will be closed to traffic but open to lawn chairs, blankets and even dancing as Pope’s Tavern at The Oxford Inn presents “Rock the Block for Hospice.”
The celebrated 12-piece ensemble, Idle Minds Plus, will take over the porch at the Oxford Inn to play the classics – The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Chicago, Steely Dan and more. Idle Minds Plus is led by, John Alagia, a three-time Grammy nominated American record producer and musician with strong ties to the Eastern Shore. He’s worked with such artists as Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Paul Simon and Rachel Yamagata, many of which have recorded their music in his Easton-based studio.
A percentage of the proceeds from the evening’s festivities will benefit Talbot Hospice. The organization has played a central role in the provision of hospice services in Talbot County for more than three decades since its founding in May of 1981. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, the Hospice articulated its mission “to promote a Hospice Program of services for all persons in Talbot County, to provide means to integrate a Hospice Program into the lives of the community, and to educate the community in an awareness of the Hospice concept.”
Tickets for “Rock the Block for Hospice” are on sale now — $60 per person and can be purchased online at https://talbothospiceorg.presencehost.net/events/rock-the-block-for-talbot-hospice.html.
