The Candleberry Gallery at 210 S. Talbot Street in St. Michaels is hosting Santa’s Art Shop from November 15 – December 24. Get in the holiday spirit while shopping for exclusive gifts made by our local “elves.” Featuring beautiful and unique items for everyone on your list, Santa’s Art Shop will showcase art priced for gift-giving. In addition to small framed paintings and photographs, you will find Eastern-Shore themed Christmas cards, whimsical coloring posters, stunning jewelry, colorful coasters of Chesapeake Bay icons, and ornaments of all kinds. The Gallery also has a diverse supply of the best art supplies for the young and young-at-heart, including sketchbook sets, colored pencils, paints, and more.
Do you have the perfect piece of art just waiting to be framed? Candleberry Gallery will be offering the professional framing services of Scott Sullivan, a talented local photographer, illustrator, and painter. While you are visiting the gallery for framing, take a look at Scott’s striking black and white photographs and his wonderfully detailed drawings of St. Michaels’ busy Talbot Street and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s Hooper Strait Lighthouse.
Throughout the year, Candleberry Gallery is proud to support many local youth and philanthropic organizations through donations of merchandise and opportunities for groups to raise funds through events at the gallery. So each weekend in December, you will be able to support local students while you are doing your holiday shopping!
Talbot Destination Imagination students will offer gift wrapping and refreshments each December weekend before Christmas. These creative and smart young people will surely add flair to your holiday wrapping!
On Saturday, December 10, Candleberry Gallery will be bustling with activities during the town’s Christmas in St. Michaels festivities. After the parade, children from the Tilghman After School Kids program will be singing carols at the gallery near a display of special artistic items that have been generously donated to the Tilghman Area Youth Association (TAYA). Come hear the sounds of the season and see beautiful large Art LaMay waterfowl prints, special seaglass jewelry, Longaberger baskets, and a gorgeous quilt. Proceeds from any of the items sold will be given to TAYA.
Also, on December 10, local young photographer Lauren Farley will have small prints and gift items for sale to raise money to support her figure skating training with the Talbot Figure Skating Team and the University of Delaware Figure Skating Club. You’ll enjoy Lauren’s eye for color and her love of viewing flowers and insects from unique angles,
To complete the day on December 10, from 3 to 7 pm, Lisa Pierson’s ‘s Gypsy Mountain Jewelry will offer a special trunk show with one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces not normally available in the gallery. Lisa’s exquisite necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are crafted from silver, gold, and copper, often with turquoise and opal stones. She says her jewelry is designed for the “mercurial mood of a woman’s wardrobe,” and she is excited to share her special designs with you.
On Saturday, December 17, students from the National Art Honor Society of St. Michaels Middle High will be doing a sale of artwork and baked goods in front of the Gallery. They will have small prints of student artwork, greeting cards, and some original works for sale along with yummy treats You’ll be amazed by the quality of work and the breadth and depth of talent of these local student artists!
