While the Housing Commission of Talbot County has been actively involved in providing affordable homes in the area since 1998, the government agency has taken a relatively low profile in celebrating their successes. That culture of institutional humbleness is starting to change as the demand for workforce housing continues to rise in the county, as does the need for smart partnerships to get the job done.
Signs of that shift was seen yesterday when the Commission invited a select number of community and business leaders for both a ribbon-cutting of their most recent project in St. Michaels as well as a overview of what the agency has accomplished in the past and current projects.
With Chairman Nick Panuzio and Executive Director Don Bibb acting as hosts, the short presentation included remarks by Kenneth Holt, the State of Maryland’s Secretary for the Department of Housing and Community Development.
The Spy captured the highlights.
