Easton’s Interfaith St. Patrick’s Day prayer service will be held at Noon, Friday, March 17 at Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Brookletts Ave., Easton. The program will include readings, prayers and Irish songs for the entire community.
The theme of this gathering is “A St. Patrick’s Day Celebration of Hope.”
During this time of upheaval in our world and the fear and helplessness such chaos engenders, we will gather as a community to lift up the alternative reality of hope. On the day traditionally celebrated as St. Patrick’s Day, we will surround ourselves with both the stories of St. Patrick, which continue to captivate us, and a message of hope found throughout the writings of our diverse and interconnected faith communities.
Patrick’s personal story, a story that includes slavery and immigration, ends with the gift of redemption; it resonates with a universal message of peace as it continues to serve as a model of kindness, compassion and charity.
Patrick was born in Britain in 385, kidnapped while a youngster, and sold into slavery in Ireland. He escaped to Britain, but returned as a Christian monk to serve his former oppressors; he built churches and charities all over Ireland. He died on March 17th in 461.
Please join us for an inspiring and joy-filled community assembly.
