As part of its investment in training the workforce of tomorrow, Easton Utilities is hosting eight college students in a rigorous, structured internship program this summer. The interns will experience, firsthand, all aspects of Easton’s utility and communications operations. Each will be required to design and present a solution to a real-world challenge faced by Easton Utilities. At the end of their program, the interns will be required to present their solution to the entire Easton Utilities management team which will review and critique the solutions.
“Our community and nation need bright, motivated and capable utility professionals who understand this complex and essential business,” said Hugh E. Grunden, President and CEO of Easton Utilities. “We designed this internship program to provide meaningful professional experience.”
Two of this year’s interns, Alec Chosta and Jamel Pinder, began their study of engineering while in Talbot County schools as part of the ACE Mentor program. Easton Utilities has long been a supporter of this program and has provided instructors to teach and motivate students toward careers in architecture, construction management and engineering. Chosta and Pinder are engineering students at the University of Maryland College Park.
“Interning at Easton Utilities is an amazing opportunity and has helped open even more doors for me,” said Lauren Lahman, an accounting student at Salisbury University. “Through this internship, I am gaining valuable experience, confidence, and professionalism that I have been able to apply to my classes.”
