Project Rewind -Talbot County: John Valliant, the first Valliant to come to the Colonies, settled on the Tred Avon in the Ferry Neck area near Bellevue circa 1665-1675. William H. And his brother Jeremiah Valliant operated this seafood and vegetable Cannery at Bellevue starting in the 1890’s. By the 1930’s the oyster catch declined, a hurricane smashed W.H. Valliant’s Canning House and sank his little fleet of wooden cargo vessels, and the Great Depression cancelled plans for recovery. Facts: “The Valliant’s of Tidewater Maryland” by J. M.
