Local author Bill Peak’s debut novel, The Oblate’s Confession, took silver in the “Best New Voice: Fiction” category of the Independent Book Publishers Association’s annual Benjamin Franklin Awards competition. The prize was announced April 10 at the IBPA’s awards dinner in Austin, Texas. Peak’s publisher, Ron Sauder of Secant Publishing, was in Austin to accept the prize.
Future editions of The Oblate’s Confession will now bear the distinctive Benjamin Franklin AwardTM seal. Thanks to his work at the Talbot County Free Library, Peak is known locally as “the library guy.” His library column can be read on the first Sunday of each month in The Star Democrat.
