The scene is the last bastion of culture in a house – the formal dining room. The action consists of everything imaginable that could occur in the well-appointed but waning center of the home.
Auditions are February 17, 19, and 21.
Step into hilarity in “The Dining Room” by A.R. Gurney and directed by Fiona Foster. An uproarious tour de force of compassionate humor and abundant humanity, in which eight actors portray fifty-six widely diverse characters in comic sketch after comic sketch, as they delineate the mothballed lifestyle of wealthy WASPdom and the neglected room which was once a center of family life.
Needed are eight actors of different ages & sizes who are proficient at fast character and clothing changes. Each will portray an average of eight or nine characters in rapid succession, with no blackouts. The various roles will be assigned democratically with no emphasis on any particular role. The characters include a grandfather, matrons, business men, teenagers, maids, a doctor, psychiatrist, realtor, architect, and more.
Readings will be from the script. Auditions will be held Tuesday February 17 & Thursday February 19 at 7 pm and Saturday February 21 at 10 am at the Oxford Community Center in Oxford.
Performance Dates are April 23, 24, 25, 26, May 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, & 10.
