Emboldened by the success of their inaugural Family Fun Night in June, the Quakers of Third Haven Friends Meeting have scheduled two more.
“Everybody had so much fun our first time out,” said Jeanne Halpin of Third Haven, “that deciding to host more Family Fun Nights was a no-brainer.”
Everyone is invited to Easton’s Idlewild Park to enjoy fried chicken, iced tea and lemonade, courtesy of the Quakers. Bring whatever side dishes and desserts you like to complete a picnic supper for you and your family.
“We want parents and their kids to come together and play games, get outdoors, run around without electronics, work together to achieve common goals, exercise and have fun,” said Pete Howell of Third Haven. “We’ll have games and races galore, including capture the flag, toss the chicken, cooperative volleyball, a three-legged race, an egg and spoon race and a wheelbarrow race.
And if racing sounds too strenuous for you, we’ll also have cornhole and ring toss. And anyone, no matter how lazy, can toss and catch a water balloon. And if you can still swivel your hips, we’ll even have hula hoops.”
Third Haven’s Family Fun Nights are scheduled for Thursday, July 27, and Thursday, Aug. 24, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. No rain dates are planned because the Quakers have arranged for lovely weather. For more information, contact Pete Howell at [email protected] or 410-924-5752.
