It always seems appropriate for the Chesapeake Film Festival, given its location, to reserve some time every year on their program schedule to celebrate to life of sailors and the sea.
That tradition continues this year with the America’s Cup sailor and journalist Gary Jobson. The author of nineteen books, more than 1,200 articles, and a dozen or more documentaries, the Annapolis-based Jobson has experienced the ultimate sailing life, including being a member of the crew for the most competitive and dangerous ocean races in the world.
The Spy ran over to the Western Shore last week to catch up with Gary and talk about his experience, his current film on Sable Island, and his past experiences with the likes of Ted Turner and Walter Chronike.
