Here’s a win-win for you: Enjoy a good meal at a discount and help feed the hungry too. Fifteen Talbot County restaurants have partnered with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to create the 2016 Dining Out Card. Area restaurants on the dining card offer discounts to patrons who buy the card. All proceeds from buying the cards go directly to help feed Talbot County neighbors in need.
This year’s card, valid from 1/1/16 to 12/31/16, costs just $25, and can be used again and again all year.
“We’re grateful to have local restaurants partner with us to help our neighbors in need,” said Handy. “Look for the decal that says ‘We Support St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry’ that our partners are displaying.”
From their building at 29533 Canvasback Drive in Easton, volunteers at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry give groceries to the needy every Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Volunteers also collect and distribute clothing, furniture and housewares on those days. Proceeds from items for sale there are also used to feed the hungry.
For more information or to order a Dining Out Card, call 410-770-4505 and leave a Dining Out Card request, along with your name and phone number. People can also order online at www.SvdpEastonmd.org Be sure to include your name, phone number, address and the number of cards you want. A volunteer will respond promptly, Handy said.
