Mary Phelps, years ago, attended an arts fair where she saw a wood carver at work. He was gouging a piece of wood, looked up at Mary, and asked if she wanted to try. She did. Mary has been producing exquisite sculpture ever since. Her wooden birds can be seen at the A.M. Gravely Gallery, 408 S. Talbot Street, St. Michaels. Hours are 10am to 6pm, Fridays and Saturdays and 10am to 3pm on Sundays and Mondays. Or by appointment.
