The Easton Choral Arts Society has announced is upcoming 36th concert season. Under the direction of Artistic Director, Wes Lockfaw, the chorus will present a musically diverse season beginning with its fall concert taking place on October 26 and 27 at 8:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively. The initial concert pays tribute to English composer, Sir Paul McCartney notable for his collaborations with John Lennon and the Beatles. The concert entitled “A Man of Contrast” will feature the Eastern Shore premier of one of McCartney’s more recent works, the oratorio Ecce Cor Meum along with more familiar favorites, some of which include arrangements by the King’s Singers. On December 7 and 8, ECAS will present two performances of the Christmas portion of Handel’s, Messiah with a carol sing-a-long, before concluding its season with two performances of Carl Orff’s, Carmina Burana in April next year.
New this season is a choral scholars program for high school and college-age students. In order to foster musical development and a love for choral music, Easton Choral Arts Society is offering three scholar positions to students by audition. If chosen, applicants will be given a $1,000 stipend for the concert season ($500 per semester) and will have the opportunity to perform a fine and diverse repertoire of choral literature. The Easton Choral Arts Society also invites singers of all parts to become involved by contacting the organization at [email protected]. Rehearsals are held each Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. in the parish hall at Christ Church, 111 S. Harrison Street in Easton beginning Tuesday, September 10.
