2023 “Drop For Scotty” Food Drive

December 7, 2023 by Spy Desk

The Rotary Club of Easton, Maryland and other community partners are teaming up to host the “Drop for Scotty” Community Food Drive through the end of December.

The food drive is named after the late Lord “Scotty” Scott Sr. who passed away in January 2020. Scott was well-known throughout Easton and Talbot County for hosting his annual “Operation Christmas Spirit” event at the Easton Volunteer Fire Department. Established in the 1970s, Operation Christmas Spirit made the holidays brighter for thousands through a large community meal and gifts for local children supported by volunteers and donations.

“Scotty’s kindness and love for the community knew no bounds, and this food drive is a way to honor his giving spirit,” said Andrew Walsworth, Easton Rotary President. “Our club is privileged to carry on his legacy, continue his good work and provide direct relief to families in Talbot County during this holiday season.”

Individuals and organizations may drop off non-perishable food at 2023 designated “Drop Sites”: The ARC Chesapeake on N. Hanson Street, BAAM on Jowite Street, Bay Capital Mortgage on E. Dover Street, BSC Group on Bay Street, Critchlow Adkins on N, Magnolia Street or on Glenwood, Eastern Shore Land Conservancy on S. Washington Street, Easton Visitors Center on S. Harrison Street, Easton Family YMCA on S. Washington Street or Peachblossom, 4H Extension Office on Mary’s Court, Harris Teeter on Marlboro Avenue, Mid Atlantic Tire on Teal Drive, Provident State Bank on N. Harrison Street, Queenstown Bank on N. Washington Street, Saints Peter and Paul on High Street or S. Washington Street, Shore United Bank on East Dover Street, Marlboro Ave or Elliott Road, Star Democrat on Airpark Drive, Talbot County Library on West Dover Street and Willow Construction on Commerce Drive.

In addition to dropping off food, the community may also make a financial contribution to the Easton Rotary’s Youth and Community Fund by visiting www.dropforscotty.com.  Funds raised will be used to purchase additional food and critical supplies. All food and financial donations will stay local and will support vulnerable families in Talbot County.
