Free suits, haircuts, job readiness workshops and on-site STI testing are available at a free community event on Jan. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Grace Street in Easton.
Grace Street, the region’s sole recovery community organization, is hosting the event at its center, at 8262 Ocean Gateway, Suite 1. Grace Street opened in August and has continued its mission of saving lives and fostering healing for anyone affected by substance use. This community event focuses on empowering people entering the workforce with professional presentations and job training skills.
The event offers free suits with personal fitting with Sharp Dressed Man from 2 to 5 p.m.; free haircuts from Big Mixx’s unisex salon from 3 to 5 p.m.; interview workshop with BAAM at 5 p.m.; credit repair workshop with Devon Hainey of Truist from 2 to 3 p.m.; HIV and Hep C testing with Talbot County Health Department from 2 to 5 p.m.
Baltimore non-profit Sharp Dressed Man empowers men to improve their lives with recycled suits for job interviews. The organization’s van encloses a measure-to-fit, one-on-one styling experience that results in a free, hand-selected suit. The van will be at Grace Street, open to anyone on a walk-up basis during the event.
Sam the Barber and Jamie Barrett, of Big Mixx’s unisex salon in Chestertown, are donating their time and expertise for free haircuts from 3 to 5 p.m. The haircuts also are available to anyone on a walk-up basis during the event.
Devon Hainey, branch leader with Truist bank in Easton, will offer a credit repair workshop, with Q&A, from 2 to 3 p.m. Building African American Minds (BAAM) will offer a mock interview workshop on at 5 p.m. through its Workforce Development Program. Both workshops are on-site at Grace Street; virtual attendance is available. Registration is requested for the workshops, via marketing@gracestreetrecovery.org.
Talbot County Health Department will offer free HIV and Hep C testing on site during the event.
Harm reduction materials are always available for free at Grace Street, including the region’s sole harm reduction vending machine that includes Narcan, the life-saving opioid overdose reversal medication. Also available are Fentanyl test strips, Xylazine test strips, safer sex items, sharps disposal, and hygiene items.

Grace Street serves people across the Mid-Shore, and delivers an assortment of non-clinical, community-centered, peer recovery support services and trainings, along with harm reduction resources including the region’s first Narcan vending machine; workforce training and development; overdose prevention activities and resources; outreach; and support groups. Referrals are not necessary; services are free. The center is open weekdays and Sundays, 4 – 9 pm. and Saturdays 2 – 7 p.m. Daytime hours vary.
