The Hill reported last night that MD-1 Rep. Andy Harris was elected as the new chair of the House Freedom Caucus, replacing Rep. Bob Good (R-Va.) after his primary defeat. Harris was elected after Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) withdrew from the race. Harris’s term will run through 2024.
The Freedom Caucus continues to exert influence, with Speaker Mike Johnson preparing to vote on their preferred government funding proposal.

Where’s the daylight? That he was elected at night certainly raises eyebrows; and that this group is endorsed by the shadow president who is in control of the House mounts suspicions. Foreboding clouds loom large.
The prior chair of the Freedom Caucus was defeated in a primary because Trump did not like him. Basically, the head of that caucus serves at the pleasure of Trump, no other master. To my knowledge, Mr. Harris is never once disagreed with Trump except when it comes to funding the government. Andy Harris votes against every government funding bill even defunding law enforcement. He voted against the bill honoring the police that were attacked and injured during the attack on the Capital. That was also Trump’s position as he considers the people who attacked the police to be patriots. He’s promised to pardon them all.
We on the Eastern Shore will not benefit one bit from Harris chairing this caucus. Only Trump will benefit. We certainly will not get more federal funding for any project that enhances our environment. In a sense, this news story is “inside the Beltway news” in the worst sense. This change in leadership is no consequence for us in the real world.
He is an insignificant petulant child.
He is an embarrassment to our District 1
and the United States.
Well, it looks as if the Freedom Caucus is scraping the bottom of the barrel for leadership these days.
I can only say that what happened to the last chairman of the freedom caucus should also happen to Andy ‘Dr. NO’ Harris. He was useless before this move. Abd he still is USELESS!
