Two Easton residents, Bruce Butler and Ben Mauro, are organizing an Easton chapter of the national nonprofit Veterans for Peace (VFP). They ask you to join the national VFP as a veteran, active-duty military, or associate member. So, we can meet the chapter’s mission of promoting peace and a better world together.
The national VFP has advocated peace in myriad ways since 1985 as a response to the global nuclear arms race. It now champions more concerns like the climate crisis, racism, oppression, social injustice, and ending military conflicts. They have over 100 US chapters and 6 international chapters. The national VFP is a member of the International Peace Bureau based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Bruce and Ben, Vietnam War Veterans, plan to extend the purposes of the National VFP to a local chapter serving Easton and surrounding areas. The new chapter upholds the value of fostering peace at the expense of war.
Moreover, the new chapter seeks alternatives to bullying and forming gangs in our schools. Another goal is to help our combat veterans suffering from wartime stress and trauma. Non-combat veterans may need healing, too, because military life can be challenging. Finally, the new chapter encourages justice for veterans, active-duty military, and private citizens at all levels of governance.
