In the latest edition of the Spy’s ongoing conversation with Holly DeKarske, the Town of Easton’s Director of Economic Development Corporation, and Miguel Salinas, its planning and zoning director, we talk to them about two parts of the municipality’s comprehensive plan. The first is the projected growth rate for Easton during the plan’s lifetime, which is currently being moved from 1% to 1.75%. What is the significance of that change and its use in determining housing needs?
The second is the state of annexation in Easton. With 900 housing units in the pipeline waiting for approval, should there be a temporary moratorium on permitting until the town’s infrastructure is monitored with annexation?

Approve housing that the normal wage earner can afford. Hank Corbin built many first time home buyer housing and was successful with getting people into their first house including me. Easton just seems to cater to the wealthy. Example is the housing going up where the Safeway was. The prices are out of this world. Easton is starting to be expensive as Annapolis .

Did you go to any of the Town meetings re Safeway space. First MTG three people showed up; second MTG five people showed up; third MTG could not tell because it was a mixed mtg. If you do not voice your opinion, things like this happen. I was just surprised that Praeger was not the developer. This project is one horrible mistake for DT Easton, as it does not have any charter and is the wrong project for this space.
Miguel Salinas sure is a smart guy. The Town is lucky to have him!
