A new option for the mid-shore cycling community is rolling into Maryland’s Eastern Shore with the launch of the Blue Crab Bicycle Club, an inclusive group dedicated to bringing together riders of all skill levels and backgrounds. Based in the Mid-Shore area, the club invites cyclists to explore the region’s scenic roads, coastal landscapes, and vibrant cycling culture.
“We created the Blue Crab Bicycle Club to foster a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone—from beginners to seasoned riders—can enjoy the joy of cycling together,” say the club’s founders, Eric Klotz, Alex McCoy, Heather Grant and Jennifer Connor. “Our mission is simple: make biking fun, safe, and accessible for all.”
What the Club Offers
-
Weekly Group Rides: Explore the Eastern Shore’s picturesque routes with fellow enthusiasts.
-
Community Events: Participate in social gatherings and charity rides.
-
Inclusive Atmosphere: All riders, regardless of experience, are welcome.
Whether you’re just getting started or an experienced cyclist looking for community, you’re invited to ride with us. Riders who are able to maintain a “C” level pace of 13 miles per hour, “B” riders who can average 15-18 miles per hour and “A” riders who can ride 18+ miles per hour are all welcome – even e-bikes! Most rides are “no drop” meaning the riders will stick together on a prescribed route. Rides originate from different locations around the Shore from Centreville to Cambridge.
