My only guess is Miracle House located in Claiborne during the 1930’s and 40’s. – a camp for children from the inner cities who had been exposed to TB. It had a large dining hall built over the water which doesn’t exactly correspond to the photo. Also, I’m almost certain it didn’t have that number of buildings on its campus.
It may be Miracle House in Claiborne on Eastern Bay, a camp that was run by The Lung Association. I believe it was operating in the 1920’s and 1930″s. The whole place burned down (maybe in the 1940’s), except for the director’s cottage. Today it is a private home. There is an old schoolhouse building on the property now, but that was brought there by a previous owner, Mindelle and Roy Moon.
My family rented the cottage for many years for a week’s vacation in August from the Moons back in the 70’s and 80’s. Mrs Moon had several photographs of the camp in its heyday. She had been a camp counselor there for many years.
