Anyone remember the Bennett Motor Co. and the pictured Gulf Station? They have tentatively been identified as being on the Dover St. Talbot Lane block next to the Post Office in Easton, Md. Star Democrat research states that on Friday Oct. 21, 1938 J.N. Bennett accepted an award Dodge Automobile Co. gave to the Bennett Motor Co. for it’s efforts to ensure uninterrupted satisfactory performance of the motor vehicles sold to the public! Later Star Democrat articles state in 1949 William Henry Bennett was the general manager and that in 1950 James Bennett of Bennett Motor Company was the chairman of Easton’s National Automobile Dealer Week Committee. Does anyone know what happened to this successful Company?

Bruce Harringtons Father ran that Gulf for a period of time. He may know much more.
My Grandfather was William Henry Bennett–My mother was Katherine Louis Bennett Houston (marrried to Samuel Hopkins Houston) . We lived in Baltimore and would often visit my Aunt and Uncle, Gertrude Bennett Marshall and Norman D. Marshall in St. Michaels and my Grandfather and (step) Grandmother at their house on Doncaster Road.
My Parents bought cars at the Motor Company -I remember going there with my father -probably to get either a newer “Trade in” or for an oil change. My Aunt Gertrude and Uncle Norm had children who were near my age (Peter and Susie) and I would come stay with them in St. Michaels during the summer. We would go to the Yacht Club and play in the Miles River. Great fun. Sometimes I would be “Shipped ” down there on a Marshall Express truck from Baltimore or vice-versa. Fond memories of a quieter time.
