Kindness can seem simple — a smile, holding a door, picking up someone’s coffee. But for Lesa Mulcahy, Chief Clinical Officer at For All Seasons, kindness is far more intentional than that. It is a choice about how we show up in the world, an act done without expecting anything in return. In this interview, she describes kindness as a way of being grounded in integrity and a conscious decision to treat others with care.
In our Spy chat, Lesa also speaks candidly about how kindness can feel complicated, especially for those who have experienced trauma. A generous gesture may be met with doubt or hesitation. Therapy, she explains, helps people sort through those reactions and recognize when the present moment is different from the past. Acts of kindness can even become small experiments — chances to experience connection in a new way.
