I am a person who loves dogs. So, when I learned about having a conversation with Melanie Kaplan, I ordered her recently released book immediately and dove in.
Lab Dog: A Beagle and His Human Investigate the Surprising World of Animal Research was impossible to put down. It is joyful, hopeful, and deeply disturbing. The disturbing part comes in discovering just how little one knows about the use of animals – especially dogs – in research of all kinds that has continued for decades and decades. It’s joyful and hopeful because Melanie does her research while traveling with her Beagle, Hammy, to discover changes and growing awareness that there are alternatives.
This coming Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM on February 25th in the Stoltz Room of Easton, Maryland’s Avalon Theater, I have the good fortune of engaging in a conversation on stage with the author, Melanie Kaplan. And, I want to thank Talbot Humane for sponsoring this event.
As you can see from this brief conversation, I have so many questions.
