The Mid-Shore Community Band will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with its annual free concerts, offering audiences an afternoon and evening of traditional Irish music.
This year’s performances will take place on Sunday, March 15 at 2 p.m. at the Easton Elks Ballroom (502 Dutchmans Lane, Easton) and on Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church (612 Locust Street, Cambridge). Both concerts are free and open to the public.
Traditional Irish music is a vibrant folk genre rooted in oral tradition. It features lively dance tunes such as reels (4/4), jigs (6/8), and polkas (2/4), along with slower, expressive airs often marked by intricate ornamentation.
The Mid-Shore Community Band’s program will include many beloved Irish favorites along with several selections that may be new to audiences. The performances are designed to celebrate the spirit and musical heritage of Ireland while bringing the community together for a festive holiday tradition.
