Spiralis Gallery will host a special Curator’s Panel discussion and reception on Saturday, April 25 from 4 – 6 pm, in support of its current exhibition Shall We Gather at the River, an immersive show exploring water as a conduit for culture, identity and memory.
Curated by Zsudayka Nzinga Terrell, the exhibition brings together artists whose work reflects the symbolic and lived relationships communities have with water from migration and spirituality to ancestry, healing and collective memory.
The April 25 conversation will expand the dialogue beyond the exhibition, exploring how art collecting can serve as a pathway to cultural preservation and generational wealth. Panelists will discuss the power of art as both storytelling and asset-building within historically underrepresented communities.
The panel will feature Paul Henderson, a lawyer, strategist and nationally recognized thought leader who advocates for art as a tool for social justice and civic engagement. Henderson previously engaged with Spiralis leadership during Art Basel Miami / SCOPE, where conversations focused on the gallery’s evolving role in connecting art, culture and community impact.
Also joining the discussion is Jean-Daniel Lafontant, a Haitian scholar, media contributor and curatorial consultant known for his work promoting Haitian culture and art influenced by Vodou traditions. Lafontant will offer a cultural blessing for the Spiralis space and bring his deep experience collaborating with museums, universities and international media projects focused on Haitian art and spirituality.
The panel will also highlight some of the 23 featured artists, including Angela Franklin, Mr. James Brown, Jr, and Queen Leia Lewis, whose work reflects themes of restoration, spiritual grounding, and creative abundance.
