On February 28 of this year, Dear Leader decided to kick a hornets’ nest and attacked Iran, perhaps to distract us all from the Epstein files. The result in the eight weeks since has been a surge in gas prices of 50 percent and diesel prices up 70 percent.
The nation elected this individual to the White House because people were upset that COVID-related inflation made things cost too much and prices were not coming down fast enough. Wait until they see how high prices go now, because we are only just receiving the fuel that was shipped before the war began, and prices are likely to keep rising.
Meanwhile, the Dow just keeps moving along as Dear Leader daily manipulates the markets for the benefit of the extremely wealthy, who are cashing in on the misfortunes of middle-class and working people. These are the same citizens whose insurance has somehow recently become more expensive, and now their groceries and everything else are rising as well.
Then consider that a large portion of fertilizer and its components move through the Strait and now cannot. Developing nations that depend on their crops will not have the fertilizer they need as planting time passes. We could help by sending aid, but that program was canceled, and food has been left to rot. So many poor countries, some already adversarial to the United States, now have more reason to be upset.
It seems likely we will see increased radicalization against the U.S., and we have seen before what that can look like on September 11, 2001.
But there is more. FBI counterintelligence has been redirected to support ICE. The same protective eyes once focused on external threats are now searching for workers who helped support our economy and paid taxes.
I suppose this is what they meant by ‘trickle-down economics’ and ‘foreign policy’. They tell us one thing and expect us to believe it. Most people are not as accepting of that treatment as Dear Leader is purported to be.
In the 250 years since the founding of this nation, no war, no economic collapse, and no scandal has done one tenth of the damage as this one man and his group of highly unserious people. Whether intentional or not, the result has been to benefit an elite few.
Figures like Peter Thiel have openly stated a desire to reshape democracy in ways that consolidate wealth and power. This kind of unchecked greed has been described by some experts as a form of extreme narcissism.
With the support of the Supreme Court, there are growing concerns about efforts to influence upcoming elections through redistricting and other means that could affect both Congressional representation and the Electoral College.
Every eligible citizen should make a plan to vote this November and express their views. Polls consistently show dissatisfaction across a range of issues.
Look within your community for those who may need help getting to the polls and find ways to assist them. Make sure your own voter registration is current and help others do the same.

Excellent letter. If you are not worried about our very democracy, you are not paying attention. But don’t wring your hands: do something. Call/write Andy. He will reply with a pitiful answer but if enough of us contact him, he might start worrying about his seat. Speak up; stand up. This is the moment in history for us to make good trouble. Flood the Star Democrat with letters. Maybe seeing your letter, will give someone else the courage to speak up or to right a wrong. We all have a voice. It’s up to each of us to use it. Vote!
