The Talbot County Democratic Forum will host a special public protest rally, “Talbot Resolves 2.0,” on Friday, June 5th, at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn of the Talbot County Courthouse.
The demonstration honors local history to address modern political grievances. Organizers will present a new version of the historic document to protest the policies of the Trump administration. The declaration focuses on the disregard for legal precedence, the violation of due process, rule by decree, and the ongoing military conflict with Iran.
The event mirrors a critical moment in American history. In 1774, local citizens gathered at this exact location to present the original Talbot Resolves. That historic document protested British tariffs, taxation without representation, and authoritarian rule by King George III prior to the Revolutionary War.
Following the courthouse presentation, attendees are encouraged to visit the Talbot Historical Society to experience the “We the People of Talbot County” exhibit, which explores the local area’s Revolutionary War history.

It is good to be reminded of historically significant events that took place in Talbot County in 1774. And that the terrible economic conditions challenging so many in our county today warrant a new version of the protests that brought us together to create a new Country so many years ago.
