As high school junior Greta Holyer boards a plane bound for Scotland this week, she is not just beginning a summer adventure. She is making history as the first recipient of the St. Andrew’s Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Summer Study Abroad Scholarship.
Greta, a student at Kent Island High School, will spend three weeks studying at the world-renowned University of St. Andrews. She will join students from around the globe while experiencing the culture, history, and academic life of Scotland firsthand.
It will be Greta’s first trip abroad, and she is excited to make new friends from diverse cultures. She admits to being nervous but is looking forward to “a huge adventure.”
Greta will share her experience on social media and plans to put together a multimedia presentation for her Kent Island High School classmates when she returns.
“Greta is an outstanding student, and we are confident our investment in her future will help inspire others to apply for the scholarship,” said Foundation Board Chair Donna Cantor.
