The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down Tuesday evening near Trappe in Talbot County.
A National Weather Service team from Mount Holly, New Jersey, is expected to survey the area on Wednesday to determine the tornado’s Enhanced Fujita rating and assess the extent of the damage.
Emergency crews responded to several storm-related incidents Tuesday evening, while Talbot County emergency management personnel began damage assessments Wednesday.
Residents are urged to avoid damaged trees, debris and downed power lines. All fallen utility lines should be considered energized and reported immediately to the appropriate utility company.
The county said additional information will be released as damage and response assessments are completed.
